W12 Reflection

We can learn a lot from the article What’s a Business For?When Charles Handy talks about integrity and virtue, he emphasizes that these are crucial skills and attributes to develop when building a business. Integrity and virtue require a great deal of trust, whether between the customer and the business owner or among business partners. When we trust each other and hold one another to high standards, we can truly be successful and accomplish what needs to be done.

He also discusses how business is not just for the satisfaction of the business owner or the customer, but for both. He mentions that when you combine the two—serving both the business and the customer—it makes a significant difference and helps create mutual support.

One solution he proposes in the article is the concept of long-term versus short-term goals. Handy explains that this distinction provides businesses with a framework to determine which decisions need to be made immediately and which ones can wait longer.
