W14 Reflection

I have been able to reflect on this past semester for this entrepreneur class. I have learned so much and have been given great advice, and direction of what I can do to be successful. One thing that I learned the most throughout this semester is to learn how to take risks and learn how to not look back. One of the sections I love the most was about dreaming, big and how that can help us to be able to do the things we want to do. We talked about how when we are given a choice and we are given different challenges if we dream big and rely on ourselves and rely on others to help us then we can make it far in life. I love that this class would go hand-in-hand with all of the gospel teachings from the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We can learn so much from our profits and apostles on becoming and doing better. This class taught us that we have all the right tools and all the right people in our lives to become more than what we think and to become what we dream of becoming. ...

This week we were able to learn so much about being grateful I am on the journey to find gratitude. One of my favorite parts about this week's readings and videos was the case study about the making of an entrepreneur. This case study was so inspiring as it talks about Randy’s life and how he reflects on leadership and the risks and rewards that he got to the point where he is now. I really enjoyed it as he talked about his own strengths and weaknesses and now he likes to look at them as they are very successful and how he is grateful for the minds and attitude that he had. He talks a lot about how when you change your mindset you can get more things done, and you can be very successful. And I type that a lot into being grateful and having gratitude. I think that at times we can let ourselves still frustrated because of our weaknesses that we have or the rest that we have to take. But when we switch our mindset and realize that those can be strengths, then that can help us be grate...

We can learn a lot from the article  What’s a Business For? When Charles Handy talks about integrity and virtue, he emphasizes that these are crucial skills and attributes to develop when building a business. Integrity and virtue require a great deal of trust, whether between the customer and the business owner or among business partners. When we trust each other and hold one another to high standards, we can truly be successful and accomplish what needs to be done. He also discusses how business is not just for the satisfaction of the business owner or the customer, but for both. He mentions that when you combine the two—serving both the business and the customer—it makes a significant difference and helps create mutual support. One solution he proposes in the article is the concept of long-term versus short-term goals. Handy explains that this distinction provides businesses with a framework to determine which decisions need to be made immediately and which ones can wait longer.

This week we focused on a law on understanding and prioritizing a work-life balance. Now, as we look at this from an entrepreneurial background, we can understand that making sure you have good work. Life balance is going to really set your career off and really help you also manage your family dynamics. One thing that really stood out to me was reading through the mini-cases and pondering and kind of making those decisions based on what I would do. One thing that I took away from that is finding a middle ground. And when we talk about a middle ground, we talk about making a compromise and having both parties come to the middle so you can decide on a good situation for yourself and for your family. I also think that finding a middle ground in compromising also comes with good communication. And any situation is going to have a hard decision when you’re trying to bounce both work and home. But I do think that if you can openly communicate and be honest with the different people Working ...

This week we were able to learn so much about dreaming big and how that can lead us to success. I loved what Elder Oak shared in his talk about our studies this week. He shared that when we have a testimony in Jesus Christ and we can trust in him then we will be able to go far in life to Succeed in all of our goals and be successful in life. This week, we also got to write our paper from our interview that we had a few weeks ago. I got to reflect on who interviewed and what I learned from her. I interviewed my mother-in-law who was a hairstylist And she was able to take me through her journey and show me what she learned and what challenges she faced. This was very eye-opening and really gave me some good perspective on how I can take that into my own life and how that will help me be successful in my entrepreneurial Journey. I’ve learned a lot from her as she talked about having good customer relationships, and really choosing how you want to run your business and how that’s going to ...

This week we learned all about disciple leadership and using that as we are thinking about entrepreneurship and understanding how the two can tie together. This week I really loved the articles that were from different BYU Idaho devotionals. One thing I really loved learning about was Elder Bednar‘s talk as he talked about disciple preparation. Now in this talk, he talked about how he was in the MTC and how he was able to share being a disciple with these missionaries. I thought that this is so powerful because that is the main thing that they are doing while they’re on their mission is being a disciple of Christ. And now one thing that stood out to me is that he reads from First Corinthians as it says a disciple of Christ is one who is following and learning to be like Christ, learning to think to feel, and to act as he does, he or she is striving to gain the mind of Christ. I thought that that was so powerful because a disciple of Christ is truly us who was just following and learnin...

This week I was able to reflect on what we learned. I was very excited to keep learning about overcoming challenges and how we can help ourselves and help others around us. For the discussion topic, we had this week. It was talking about what our greatest challenge could be in a business setting and what we can do to overcome that. I shared that one of the many challenges that I struggle with is taking leadership and being able to stand up for myself when the time is needed. In a job I have right now I have experience taking on leadership positions and have struggled in the past with people overstepping me and me not being able to put my foot down and to be the leader I was meant to be. I am a huge people pleaser, and sometimes it can be hard for me because I don’t want to cause any contention. But I loved the talk by Elder Holland and how he mentioned that we have so much personal potential and this is the greatest place to develop it. I think that really helped me change my mindset I...
